From Tirupati to All-India Rank 75: The Journey of Indumathi

Indumathi’s story begins in Tirupati, in a modest household where every rupee counted. Her father, a lorry driver, and her mother instilled a simple but powerful belief: “Study sincerely, and we will stand by you.” In a home marked by financial uncertainty, education was the one certainty.

After Class 10, opportunities for higher studies arrived in the form of free seats at private colleges. Yet, following her teacher’s advice, Indumathi chose a more measured path: a diploma at a government polytechnic. Her dedication paid off she topped her batch and later earned a gold medal in engineering.

A lucrative ₹10 lakh software job could have marked the peak of her journey. For her family, it felt like the end of years of struggle and sacrifice. But Indumathi harbored a greater dream. Determined to serve the nation, she set her sights on the UPSC Engineering Services exam a path filled with uncertainty, long hours, and no financial cushion.

Unable to afford coaching or hostel fees, she leaned on the support of teachers, well-wishers, and mentors. Strangers’ faith became her anchor, and she did not let it go in vain.

Her hard work bore fruit: Indumathi secured All India Rank 75 in the UPSC IES. The moment she returned to her school and touched her teacher’s feet, she said, “I am here because you showed me the way.”

Indumathi’s journey is a testament to resilience, humility, and the power of guidance. It reminds us that dreams can flourish even amid scarcity when dedication meets support and that true success is often the culmination of many helping hands and unwavering self-belief.
