My Life in Navi Mumbai A Woman’s Perspective

I’m Pooja Rajiv, a lawyer by profession, and I have been living in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, for the past sixteen years. When I first moved here, I was a young professional, unsure of how life in a new city would treat me. Today, I can confidently say that Navi Mumbai has not only become my home but also a city that has given me immense confidence, safety, and comfort.

Vashi, in particular, has always had a unique charm. The well-planned infrastructure, clean roads, and green surroundings make it a pleasant place to live. Over the years, I’ve seen the area evolve from quiet residential zones to a vibrant blend of professionals, students, and families. What I admire most is how the city manages to stay organized even as it grows rapidly.

As a woman who often works late due to my legal practice, safety has always been a primary concern. Thankfully, Navi Mumbai has consistently felt safer compared to many other parts of the metropolitan region. The streets are well-lit, local transport is reliable, and the police presence is reassuring. Of course, like any city, it’s important to stay alert and aware, but I’ve never felt an overwhelming sense of fear walking back home after a late client meeting or a court session.

The people here are another reason I’ve stayed so long. There’s a sense of community neighbors look out for each other, and there’s respect across genders. Navi Mumbai, to me, represents what urban India should aspire to be: progressive, inclusive, and secure.

After sixteen years, I can say with pride that this city has shaped me both personally and professionally. For any woman looking to build her life and career, Navi Mumbai is truly a city that cares and empowers.
