From Broom to Boardroom: The Inspiring Rise of Pratiksha Tondwalkar

From sweeping floors to shaping decisions at one of the world’s largest banks, Pratiksha Tondwalkar’s life story is a powerful reminder that no beginning is too small for a great destiny.

Born into an underprivileged family in Pune, Pratiksha’s childhood was cut short when she was married at just 16, forcing her to leave school and abandon her dreams of education. Life dealt her another cruel blow at 20, when she was widowed, left alone to raise her young son amid deep financial and social hardship.

With survival as her only option, Pratiksha took up a job as a sweeper at a State Bank of India branch in Mumbai. Her days were spent cleaning floors, dusting furniture, and maintaining the premises for a modest salary. Yet, even as she worked in silence, her ambition spoke loudly.

Refusing to be defined by her circumstances, she studied late into the night and eventually earned a degree in psychology. Her commitment and discipline caught the attention of her superiors, leading to her promotion from sweeper to clerk. Step by step, exam by exam, she climbed the institutional ladder.

Her second husband, Pramod Tondwalkar, stood by her as a pillar of strength, encouraging her professional growth while sharing responsibilities at home. Together, they rewrote what seemed like a predetermined fate.

Today, Pratiksha Tondwalkar stands tall as Assistant General Manager at SBI, her journey echoing a timeless truth: courage, perseverance, and self-belief can turn the impossible into reality.
