Sky’s the Limit: Navi Mumbai Airport Set to Transform Travel

Navi Mumbai International Airport Inaugurated by PM Modi

Navi Mumbai marked a major milestone in infrastructure development with the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated Phase 1 of the airport on October 8, 2025, signaling the beginning of a new era in India’s aviation landscape.

Developed by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, NMIA was built to ease the heavy traffic at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Spread over 1,160 hectares in Ulwe, the first phase was designed to handle 20 million passengers annually, with future phases planned to expand capacity to 90 million passengers.

The airport showcased world-class features, including sustainable architecture, smart terminal systems, and excellent multi-modal connectivity through highways, metro links, and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL).

With its modern infrastructure and strategic location, the Navi Mumbai International Airport emerged as a major aviation hub, further strengthening Maharashtra’s position on the global connectivity map.
